Dr. James Kim PT, DPT is a Doctor of Physical Therapy practicing in New York City since 2019. He attended the University at Buffalo where he earned both his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees. He has also received the Hospital For Special Surgery (HSS) Baseball Overhead Athlete Rehabilitation Certification. James’ initial interest in physical therapy began while rehabbing a shoulder injury sustained during high school baseball.
During his time in school, James gained clinical experience working in various types of settings including intensive care units, stroke rehabilitation, and outpatient orthopedic clinics. He has also spent time working in a Phase II cardiac rehabilitation unit as well as a wellness program specifically targeted for patients with Multiple Sclerosis. James’ experiences with a diverse patient population allows him to address specific needs, create individualized treatment programs based on their capabilities and goals.
James has extensive clinical experience treating pre and post-operative patients, including total joint arthroplasty, ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repairs, and hip labral repairs. He has worked with numerous recreational runners during marathon training and athletes of all kinds getting back to the sports they love.
His physical therapy interests include manual therapy interventions and functional movement assessments to identify the root causes of a patient’s impairments and symptoms. James strives to educate and provide his patients with the tools needed to maximize their independence and prioritize long term health and wellness.
In his spare time, James enjoys traveling, weight training, exploring different cuisines, as well as cheering for the New York Yankees, New York Knicks and Buffalo Bills
