Dr. Katherine Kalaj, PT, DPT, CPT is a Doctor of Physical Therapy who specializes in orthopedic rehabilitation, sports performance, and return-to-sport training. She earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Hunter College, her Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Manhattan University, and is a NASM-Certified Personal Trainer, combining clinical expertise with a biopsychosocial understanding of human performance to help patients achieve their rehab and fitness goals.
Throughout her career, Kat has gained experience treating a multitude of orthopedic and neurological conditions, ranging from rotator cuff tendinopathy to hip labral tears, patellofemoral pain syndrome, lumbar radiculopathy, and more. Additionally, she has worked with patients who have undergone a wide variety of surgeries, including total joint replacements, rotator cuff repairs, meniscectomies, and ACL reconstructions.
As a powerlifter, HYROX trainee, and former competitive cheerleader, Kat is passionate about collaborating with individuals of all ages in their return to exercise and sport. She has personal experience of understanding the physical and mental demands of sport and knows how important bespoke rehabilitation is in the journey back from injury. Her treatment approach centers on identifying the movement requirements of an individual’s goals and utilizing evidence-based exercise prescription, progressive overload, and hands-on manual therapy to bridge the gap between injury and performance.
Outside of the clinic, Kat enjoys weightlifting, running, finding new coffee spots to try out, and reading while lounging at any one of the many parks around New York City.
