From June 22-25, 2026, some of the world’s leading physicians, scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs, and healthcare innovators gathered at the Aspen Institute for Aspen Ideas: Health 2026 to discuss the future of healthcare.

One theme emerged throughout the conference: brain health is one of the defining health priorities of our generation.

As our understanding of neuroscience continues to evolve, one message remained clear. The everyday choices we make, including how we move, sleep, eat, manage stress, and connect with others, have a profound impact on cognitive performance, resilience, and healthy aging.

Bespoke Physical Therapy was honored to join Therabody as part of the Thrive Global x Bristol Myers Squibb Brain Health Oasis, which highlighted Thrive Global’s Five Pillars of Brain Health: Movement, Sleep, Food, Stress Management, and Connection.

Throughout the event, Bespoke Physical Therapy and Therabody educated attendees on three of these pillars through interactive demonstrations and the latest research on movement, recovery, and nervous system health.

Movement: Strength Training Is Brain Training

Strength training does far more than build muscle. Research shows it supports brain health by increasing blood flow to the brain and stimulating important growth factors such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1). These growth factors help support neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to learn, adapt, and create new neural connections.

Regular resistance training has been associated with improvements in memory, attention, executive function, processing speed, mood, and long-term cognitive health.

At the Brain Health Oasis, attendees participated in simple kettlebell and dumbbell exercises that demonstrated an important takeaway. Strength training does not have to be complicated to support both physical and cognitive health. At Bespoke Physical Therapy, our Doctors of Physical Therapy regularly prescribe individualized strength programs to help patients recover from injury, improve performance, and support long-term health.

Stress Management: Supporting the Nervous System

Chronic stress affects nearly every system in the body, including the brain. Researchers continue to find strong connections between stress, nervous system regulation, cognitive function, and overall well-being.

Attendees experienced the Therabody Lounger, which uses vibroacoustic therapy to help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, often referred to as the body’s “rest and digest” response. Helping the body shift into a more relaxed state can support recovery, reduce stress, and complement healthy movement and sleep habits.

Sleep: Better Brain Health Starts the Night Before

Sleep remains one of the most important pillars of brain health. During sleep, the brain consolidates memories, supports learning, restores energy, regulates hormones, and clears metabolic waste.

At the Brain Health Oasis, attendees explored the Therabody SmartGoggles, which use gentle vibration, massage, and heat to help calm the nervous system before bed. Clinical research has shown improvements in relaxation, stress reduction, and sleep quality, making sleep one of the most impactful investments we can make for long-term brain health.

Brain Health Is Built Every Day

One of the biggest takeaways from Aspen Ideas: Health 2026 was that brain health is not built through a single intervention. It is built through consistent daily habits.

Movement. Sleep. Nutritious food. Stress management. Meaningful connection.

These five pillars work together to support how we think, move, feel, recover, and age.

At Bespoke Physical Therapy, this philosophy aligns with our mission to help people Move Better. Feel Better. Live Better, Longer. Whether someone is recovering from an injury, improving athletic performance, navigating pregnancy or postpartum recovery, managing chronic pain, or investing in long-term wellness, our team uses evidence-based physical therapy, strength training, and recovery strategies to optimize lifelong health.

Looking Ahead

We are grateful to Thrive Global, Bristol Myers Squibb, Therabody, and the Aspen Institute for creating an environment where meaningful conversations about brain health and preventive healthcare can thrive.

As the science continues to evolve, one message is becoming increasingly clear. The choices we make every day matter. It is never too early, or too late, to invest in your brain
