Strength & Mobility Cohort for Marathon Runners
This 6-week strength training program is designed specifically for marathon runners who want to improve performance, build durability, and reduce the risk of injury as they head into the fall race season. Whether you’re preparing for your first marathon or you’ve been running long distances for years, this program offers a focused approach to building strength in the muscle groups most essential to running, improving movement efficiency, and correcting the imbalances that often lead to overuse injuries. Each weekly session is led by Dr. Jessica Lefkowitz, a Doctor of Physical Therapy at Bespoke with a strong background in running biomechanics and endurance training.
Throughout the program, you’ll work through targeted strength exercises that help build power and stamina in your glutes, hamstrings, quads, calves, and core. Sessions also include dynamic warm-ups and cooldowns aimed at improving joint mobility and flexibility. To complement the strength work, running-specific plyometric and stability drills will help enhance coordination, joint control, and overall force production. Dr. Lefkowitz will also provide ongoing guidance on form, progression, and how to effectively blend strength work into your existing marathon training plan.
The overall goal is to help you move better, run stronger, and stay healthy through peak training. You’ll improve running efficiency, develop strength without adding unnecessary fatigue, and reduce the chance of injury by addressing muscular imbalances. Most importantly, you’ll feel more confident and prepared as you approach the most demanding weeks of your race prep.
This program is ideal for runners targeting a marathon between September and November who are looking to elevate their training without overcomplicating it. No prior experience with strength training is necessary. Water and storage space will be available during each session. Please plan to arrive by 6:15 PM so we can begin promptly at 6:30 PM.
